Artist Statement
Mary Anne Dente's watercolour and acrylic paintings are dramatic and dynamic impressions of the natural world. Florals, landscapes and portraiture are favourite subjects. Recent works include acrylic impressions of Tuscany.
Mary Anne has been inspired and mentored by courses and workshops at Central Technical Art School, Sheridan College and Haliburton School of the Arts. She is a member of the Etobicoke Art Group, and Springbank Artists in Mississauga. Her paintings and custom-painted Muskoka chairs have found homes in private collection in Canada and the United States.
Expressing her impressions of the natural world through painting has been a life-long passion for Mary Anne. Watercolour and acrylic paintings express both the fragility and resilience of nature. She enjoys experimenting with light and shadow using colour and value to produce dynamic florals and atmospheric landscapes. Recent acrylic paintings combine the use of texture and colour to create impressions of places visited, both home and abroad.
